History

In 1912, Fred Shearer finished work on the Multnomah Hotel (currently Embassy Suites Portland) as the Superintendent of Tresholm Plastering. In 1916 he took over ownership of the company and established Fred Shearer & Sons. Since then four generations of the Shearer family have owned and operated the company while creating a reputation of providing excellent craftsmanship and expertise in the industry. Current company owners Ralph Schultz and John Park are proud to be carrying on the level of excellence established with earlier generations.
Mission
Fred Shearer & Sons is committed to leading in the walls and ceiling industry, by providing our clients with the highest level of professionalism, quality, production, and safety. We do this by embracing our storied past along with a culture of collaboration that emphasizes forward thinking, and innovation.
Safety Culture
Safety is a core part of how we operate at Fred Shearer & Sons. Our goal is to fully integrate safe practices into every aspect of our work so we can build the best possible components and facilities for our clients. Both management and job site personnel share responsibility for maintaining a safe workplace. We believe that injuries should never happen on our projects, and that with proper planning, awareness, and teamwork, accidents can be prevented.
Every Fred Shearer & Sons employee plays an important role in safety. Employees are responsible not only for their own safety but also for looking out for their coworkers. If you see something that could be hazardous, you are encouraged and empowered to stop work. Work should only resume after the situation has been reviewed and addressed by the appropriate supervisor or the safety department.
Our Safety Program works best when everyone participates and works together—from management to every team member on site. When we prioritize safety, we create a healthier workplace and set our projects up for success in quality, productivity, and profitability.
