Fall Protection

Fall Protection

All workers exposed to falls of 6 feet or more must use 100% fall protection. Any exceptions require approval from the Safety Director.

Planning

  • Work must be planned to eliminate fall hazards when possible

  • If not, proper fall protection systems must be used

Fall Protection Systems

May include:

  • Guardrails, scaffolds, aerial lifts

  • Safety lines, nets, covers

  • Lanyards and full-body harnesses

  • Ladders (last resort)

  • Protection from falling objects

Requirements

  • Inspect equipment before each use and according to manufacturer guidelines

  • Complete a job-specific fall protection plan with your foreman before use

Responsibility

  • If uncomfortable working at heights, notify your supervisor

  • Fall protection is mandatory—violations may result in discipline
